I tried to change my product key for Windows XP on this site http://support.microsoft.com/default.asp (...
and start now, let me back in my account. gives the message:

One problem is that Windows does not closely monitor the license for this computer. Error code: 0x80004005

then back to the Welcome screen.

I went to this site for help with method 2:

But when I hit the part that says:

get nothing.

Someone please help me, I am a student and can not afford any data that I lose on my laptop.

Reset default security provider in Windows XP
To reset the default security provider in Windows XP, delete the corresponding key in the Windows registry. To do this:
Restart the computer. Press the F8 key during startup to start the computer in Safe Mode.
Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Delete the following key in the Windows registry:

Close the Registry Editor.
Restart the computer.
Set the drive letter of the drive system
To reset the drive letter of system drive, use the following methods.
Cancel the action that changed the drive letter of system drive.
When you start the Registry Editor, update the drive letter for the system ofBank in the Windows registry. To do this:
Start Registry Editor.
Open the following key in the Windows registry:
